MAN I suck at blogging. I’m on a 12 blog per year program.
Has anyone heard anything about an Xbox game where a prince rolls around a sticky ball and a lot of things get stuck to it? It sounds so silly and yet… I am intrigued… The idea reeks of the GANJA.
Our friends got married in a Greek Orthodox ceremony in Philadelphia last weekend. The groom is Greek and the bride is Italian, so the celebration was a true coming together of different cultures. I loved it, it was the best wedding Kevin and I have ever been to… not only because the food was great or the venue was nice (all was lovely), but also because there was just so much love and joy in the air.. everyone wanted to dance, and that includes grandma! Now that’s a party!
My desire to learn salsa dancing (or any dancing) was renewed, and I found this really cool salsa CRUISE where you go to the bahamas but while you are on the ship they have lots of workshops where you work on your salsa skills, and they set up all these awesome parties…. so cool! But, we should probably learn how to dance first.
The Greeks do this really passionate traditional dance - it was so strange to watch our friend doing it. It’s like seeing him, really seeing him, for the first time. There was also a lot of money being thrown in the air while the bride and groom were dancing - the floor was littered with cash, and I kept wondering if anyone was going to slip on it. The waiters finally swept it up, I wonder if they kept it or gave it back to the family. The Italians had their versions of the same dances - at one point the DJ put on this Italian techno song and the bride’s mom and dad started gettin busy on the dance floor…. I would just die if my dad started bustin a groove to a club beat.
It’s three full days later and I still feel the glow.
We also visited Rob, Kevin’s old college buddy, who lives in Philadelphia. He does rehab/developer work there, doing his part to beautify one of America’s great cities. We got the chance to see one of his gutted houses from the inside, so cool - it is so satisfying to see someone go after their dreams and then make it. If you ever find this blog, Rob - we are proud of you! You inspire me to learn to salsa dance! (gotta start small..)
